Bow ties have been around for well…. forever. As far back as I can remember from sitting in my history classes there was some form of bow tie. Whether it was the bow tie of a cape in the medieval times or the beginning of the actual fashion accessory in the 1900’s, bow ties have gone from a functional closure for clothes, to a status symbol, and now a fashion accessory for both men and women.
The stuffy formal idea of a bow tie is on its way out, and if it isn’t I’m going to show it to the door. Don’t get me wrong, the classic black bow tie for a formal event is always the way to go and in my opinion every man should have at the minimum one classic black bow tie in his closet. It’s 2012 and men are finally become less conservative with their every day wardrobe and having fun with it.
Bow ties, especially mine, are full of color and patterns. They are a piece of art that you wear and made to get attention much like a woman wears shiny jewelry. This is our turn to get the attention on our accessories by changing how people perceive the bow tie!
